The Sun Valley Writers’ Conference is an annual gathering of discerning readers and writers who come together in a gorgeous part of the American West to consider dynamic ideas set forth in fiction, nonfiction, journalism, poetry, and filmmaking. While covering a great breadth of subjects, the conference is always anchored by important literary figures who believe that the literary world can make a difference in the shaping of contemporary culture.
For four days each August, some of the country’s – and the world’s – best writers and thinkers talk about their work, the world (from Haiti to health care, from the economy to monogamy), and why the written word still matters. Together, writers and readers freely exchange ideas, concerns, hopes, and aspirations.

Community Summer programs offer kids the chance to explore the world, develop new skills and expand their horizons, both inside the classroom and in the outdoors.
We offer a complete range of academic and enrichment course options for kids from
pre-school through high school, as well as unique outdoor education courses and trips. Many academic offerings can be completed for a trimester of school credit. All offerings are open to the public.
